Sultanahmet is the heart of Istanbul, home to Hagia Sophia (built in 532 AD), Topkapi Palace (the administrative centre of the Ottoman Empire), the Blue Mosque (unique in the world with 6 minarets) and Basilica Cistern. The ancient Hippodrome with its Egyptian obelisk traces thousands of years of history.

Metro: M1A to Aksaray → Yenikapı, tram T1 to Sultanahmet stop. Taxi from IEC ~40 min.
