The 10th International Chemical Industry Fair, Turkchem Eurasia, held in Istanbul, set the pulse of the industry. Artkim Group Founder CEO Cengiz Yaman, during his opening speech, highlighted the importance of the chemical industry both in Turkey and globally, emphasizing the contributions of the Turkchem Eurasia 2024 fair to the sector.
Key details of the fair include:
In his speech, Yaman stated that Turkey's chemical industry is at a critical turning point for the future, and strengthening the sector is essential for the country’s independence and growth. He stressed that reducing foreign dependency and increasing domestic production is key to this progress. "The key to our independence is reducing foreign dependence and producing more with our own resources," Yaman said.
He noted that Turkey's chemical industry is currently about 60% dependent on imports and that it is crucial to reduce this figure through strategic and planned efforts. Yaman pointed out that 7 out of the top 10 countries in the global economy have strong chemical industries, and emphasized that achieving this success is Turkey's responsibility.
The Artkim Fuarcılık, CNG Expo, and Chem Media organized various activities, including both domestic and international fairs, media platforms, e-commerce, and conference events to integrate and promote the chemical industry globally. "Our goal is to increase exports, support production, and deepen collaboration in the industry. We are currently working with over 5,000 companies, both domestically and internationally, and strengthening these collaborations with leading industry organizations," Yaman said.
Celebrating its 10th edition, Turkchem Eurasia continues to foster interest and trust in the sector. "The fair has become the largest meeting point for the industry, bringing together 434 companies from 29 countries and over 1,500 brands in a space of 13,350 square meters," said Yaman. He emphasized the international dimension of the fair, noting that 243 foreign companies account for 56% of the exhibitors. The early closure of sales, due to high demand, was seen as a clear indication of the international confidence in the chemical industry.
With the slogan "Everything about Chemistry in Istanbul!", this year’s fair aims to host 15,000 sector professionals, 30% of whom are expected to be international guests. Yaman noted that this interest highlights Turkey's chemical industry's global impact and potential.
During the three-day event, six panels will be held featuring key industry figures. Yaman specifically invited visitors to two panels: "Chemical Value Chain: Today and Tomorrow," moderated by Dorothee Arns, Executive Director of FECC, and "The Current State of the Turkish Chemical Industry and its Place in the World," moderated by Timur Erk, Honorary President of TKSD. It is also expected that panels on the second and third days will attract significant attention.
In the Turkchem Carbon Zero section, 11 technical presentations will be held, focusing on sustainability and innovative solutions. Yaman highlighted the importance of this platform as a place for stakeholders to exchange ideas and discuss the steps that will shape the future of the industry.
Concluding his speech, Yaman thanked IKMİB, TKSD, TTTSD, all participants, sponsors, and visitors for their support. He also expressed his gratitude to the team members who contributed to organizing the international event and wished everyone a successful and productive fair.
